How to use the SATE-Forum

• Open a new browser window and go to www.sate.ch and click Forum in the menu.
• The Forum opens in a new window.
• In the discussion-section of the forum, you can read posts from other members and write postes yourself.
• In the file-exchange-section of the forum, you can download files from other members and upload files yourself.
  
  
  Read a post
• If you can read this, you already know how to get to a post
• On the left side, you can see who wrote the post (in this case, it was the administrator of the forum).
• If you want to send a mail to the author, you can click the Email-Button. If you want to read other posts by this user, you can click the Find-Button.
  
  Reply to a post
• Once you have opened a post, you can reply to it by clicking New Reply at the top (or bottom) of the page.

  
• The subject for your reply is automatically set, but you can change it if you want.
• You can now type your reply and afterwards click Post Reply. If you want to see what your reply looks like before you post it, you can click Preview Post.

  Create new thread
• Writing a post is very similar to replying to a post. You just have to click New Thread instead of Post Reply.
• To use formatting in your posts, you can use the formatting toolbar like you do in Microsoft Word or most other word processors.

  
  The formatting will appear in the final post and the preview (to see a preview, click Preview Post). In the writing field, you only see so-called tags at the beginning of the formatted part (for example for bold you see [-b-]) and at the end (for example [-/-b-]).
  
  Download a file
• You open a forum in the file-exchange-section (this works like opening a forum in the discussion-section, see Read a post).
• Then you can open the post with the file you want to download.

• To download the document click on the link under Attached File(s).
  
  Upload a file
• You create a thread in the file-exchange-section (this works like creating a thread in the discussion-section, see Create new thread). But instead of just creating a new thread, you attach a file to your thread.

• By clicking on Datei auswählen you can browse your computer to find the document you want to upload. Then click Add Attachment and finally Post thread.
